I admire your commitment greatly, Sylvano. I self-published one book after my enthusiastic agent (who thought it was a best-seller) could not find a publisher (there's a lesson in there too). In my case it was not the writing that gave me the problem but the huge amount of work involved in finding sales. I organised loads of talks, promotions and got myself interviewed in the media. It was exhausting and was then brought to an abrupt stop by the Covid lockdown. I sold 500 books! I have a new book, which has taken me over 3 years to write, now with another equally enthusiastic agent but if he doesn't find me a publisher I will probably just bin it. So well done you.
Hello Sylvano. Somehow you show up on my screen at just the right moments! I was just beginning to consider how to share The Two Lives of Ellen Dunn in published form and here you are advising on how to do just that!
Scrolling down I noticed your piece on having two homes, Venice and London. Voilá, just lately I've been thinking about how important two places are to me, two valleys in the West Coast state of Oregon, USA, the Willamette Valley and the Rogue Valley. When I came to live in the Willamette Valley 35 years ago I felt right away that I'd found my home, and then the Rogue Valley started to grow on me as well, and now's there's even another spot, Lismore in Munster Ireland, that starts to tug.
I'm glad I stuck with your Substack, even though I've been a spotty reader, and I see now that your pages are a literary home for me as well.
I love your no-nonsense direct approach, my friend. If I ever choose the route of self publishing, I will hire you as my consultant, because I would trust your advice and your assistance, no questions asked. X

'Strictly Self-Publishing' sounds like something I'd be very interested in.
